This is my first ever game. Created in Lua for the playdate. This game will only be playable on the playdate (recommended) or the simulator for PC/mac.

You are out in the woods, camping.

All alone

Just as darkness falls, your flashlight dies.

You hear noises in the darkness of the woods.

Luckily, your flashlight has a handcrank and the thing lurking in the dark is allergic to light.

Use the crank on your playdate to keep the monster at bay. Choose between surviving for 60 seconds in three different difficulties or survive for as long as you possibly can in the survival mode. Your highest ever score/longest time of survival is stored in the dedicated high-score sub-menu. I guess this is technically a survival horror game.

Good luck trying to survive the night!

v1.1 uploaded 28.06.2024: Fixed a bug where the sound of the monster continued into the main menu after winning the game. Also added a few sound effects.

Hi there, I would really recommend adding some tags to your game. For example Horror, Horror survival, short, Monsters.

Thank you for the great tip, will do!

This is a fun game with really nice (horrible) visuals, but could you store the high score for each difficulty? It would give a reason to play each difficulty level :)

Thank you for the feedback, glad you liked it!
So the high score is only for recording how long you survive in survival, while the different difficulties are "won" after 60 seconds. Are you thinking like a record of how long you survived them, or a "survived" if you completed the level? I'll definitely keep that in mind for a later revision!

No actually your explanation makes sense! I wasn’t even thinking about how the other modes are won after set times, my suggestion makes no sense :D the way you have it is perfect!

I see, thank you anyway! It would actually maybe make sense to mark whether you completed a level or not though. I'll keep it in mind.
